About NIEEE

Advancing Engineering Excellence since 1984, Empowering Innovation, Governance & Professional Growth in Nigeria

The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) was established in 1984 as a group of COREN-registered Electrical Engineers. Today, NIEEE is the umbrella body for all specialties of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Nigeria, with active chapters in 35 cities across all geo-political zones.

NIEEE is constitutionally structured into six specialized Sections to effectively deliver its mandates. These Sections represent key subdivisions of

Electrical Engineering, providing a structured framework for focused professional practice, knowledge development, and technical advancement across diverse areas of the discipline. Through these Sections, the Institute promotes collaboration, standardization, capacity building, and innovation, ensuring that members actively contribute to national development and global engineering excellence. They are:

  • Power and Clean Energy Engineering;
  • Electronic and Computing Engineering;
  • Information and Communications Technology Engineering;
  • Instrumentation, Control and Automation Engineering;
  • Avionic and Space Engineering;
  • Embedded/Emerging Technologies.

Each Section is overseen by a dedicated Section Board responsible for coordinating its professional and technical activities.

Aims and Objectives

The Institute is committed to advancing the practice, standards, and impact of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Nigeria. Through its activities, NIEEE provides a platform for professional growth, technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation, while fostering sustainable development and national progress.
